Origins: Known familiarly as the "billy button" or "drumstick," craspedia is a perennial herbaceous member of the daisy family Compositae, and is a native wildflower of New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania. Is has been cultivated in the United States as a garden flower since 1988. Its name comves from the Greek kraspedon for "edging," which refers to the feathery foliage that accompanies its achenes, or fruit. Craspedia dries very well.
